CUAD's New “CU Social Good” Website Aspires to Benefit Credit Unions Nationwide
During CUAD’s Awareness Campaign that was conducted throughout 2012 (and continues in 2013), it became evident that many people (outside of the credit union world) are not only uninformed about the credit union difference, they are unaware of the very nature of credit unions and their “People Helping People” philosophy. CU Social Good, with the help of credit unions around the country, is aspiring to change that.
Credit unions give back to their local communities in an amazing variety of creative and generous ways. Credit union employees and members are also well known for their volunteer work and charitable fundraising events. At CU Social Good, you will find these “good news” stories of credit unions and credit union people being involved in their communities – helping charities, promoting financial literacy, providing scholarships, volunteering their time, and supporting people and planet over profit.
We welcome and encourage credit unions from around the country to contribute their stories. What is your credit union doing to help people in your community? We are asking for your input, contributions, and support to make this the one site that aggregates and creates a forum for all of the great things credit unions do each and every day!
The cooperative nature of credit unions can help make this new website a success, and a victory for credit unions. There is potential for this website to be used by all in our industry for future legislative lobbying efforts, awareness campaigns, and community relations, but above all, to help generate a new public awareness that will help us to remain successful in our mission for years to come.
Please visit our new website at http://www.cusocialgood.com/. To submit your credit union’s story, email to email@example.com or follow the link on the website home page. Starting in January, 2013 CU Social Good will be launching a weekly e-newsletter that will hi-light five top stories of the week. You may sign up to receive the newsletter on the website.
