CUNA has announced the winners of the 2012 Desjardins Awards for Financial Education, and this year, we are proud to announce that a Dakota credit union is among them.

Town and Country Credit Union of Minot, ND has been named as a winner in the Adult Financial Education category.

The credit union had advanced to this national competition after being named the winner in their asset category at the state level by CUAD in September. Entries from nearly 30 states were received by CUNA this year.

The Desjardins Awards are named for Alphonse Desjardins, the founder of the North American credit union movement.  Besides founding the first credit unions in Canada and the U.S., Desjardins pioneered youth savings clubs and in-school "banks," known as caisses scolaires. This award honors credit unions, chapters and leagues for their commitment to both youth and adult financial literacy.
