Throughout the New Ideas Conference, games were held during break periods that gave attendees an opportunity to earn ammunition that was to be used in a final competition: shooting marshmallows into a fish tank. 

As the 15 competitors lined up with their loaded guns, it soon became apparent that the task was more difficult than it appeared. In the end, only five shooters were able to get a single marshmallow into the tank: Jim Schaefbauer, Amy Meyer, Yvonne Fossen, Roxanne Mullenberg, and Laura Hausmann. 

The sharpshooter of the day was Jana Thune – she landed three marshmallows into the tank, winning the grand prize of $100.
